Everything You Need to Know About Our Casting Sessions

What happens during a session?

During a session, we would cast the moulds. To ensure we get the best result, we would need your baby or child to be as still as possible. Usually, singing, rocking and feeding are effective ways to distract babies during this process. Your baby or child's hands/feet will be immersed in a moulding mixture. It will then take approximately 30 seconds for the mixture to set, creating a perfect impression of your baby's hands/feet. The hands and feet are easily removed, leaving the mould intact.

How long is each session?

We usually allocate approximately 45 mins to an hour for each session. Each cast only takes a few minutes. The extra time allocated for each session is to enable your child to relax, and for us to see what the best moulding process will be for your child. We recommend that you make a booking time that is suitable for your child (ie: during their nap time, after meals, or when they are the happiest!).

What products do you use?

As a parent myself, it is important for me to know that my products are children. Little Prints uses high quality, medical-grade impression materials for our casting process. It is suitable for delicate skin, even for young babies and is 100% non-toxic.

What do I need to bring?

A relaxed demeanour, have your baby/child dressed in old clothes, some toys and most importantly, FOOD! If your child becomes wriggly and fussy during the moulding session, the toys and food will come in handy!

Questions About The Frame

What would be on the nameplate?

We usually have the name and age of your baby or child, printed on the name plate. However, if you would like something different on the nameplate, it can be arranged.

How and when do I design the frame?

After the moulding session, we will discuss how you would like to customise your frame. There's a wide variety of different coloured matt boards and frames to choose from. You can also choose the colour of your nameplate (ie: gold/silver) and the colour of your child's sculptures (gold/silver/bronze/white). Designing your frame and adding specific detail is an exciting process as it makes the whole frame even more special.

When will I receive my casting?

The delivery/completion date of items such as hands and feet castings will vary due to time of material cure, complexity, and time of year. We advise you to book ahead of time especially when purchasing for special occasions to avoid disappointment. Generally you will receive your order within 4 - 6 weeks. Thus, we thank you for your understanding and patience.

Staying safe during Covid-19

We practise a high level of hygiene as your safety is equally important as ours. Surfaces are disinfected regularly. Prior to the start of each session, we will practise frequent hand wash with soap, constant use of hand sanitiser, and facemask is worn throughout the session.
